Ghost Ship (2025)

Ghost Ship Collective The Ghost Ship Collective is a new body of work by Charles Beau Hoffacker that confronts the hollowing out of institutions, the violence woven into everyday life, and the uneasy balance between authority and humanity. Rooted in Hoffacker’s dual experience as a New Orleans police detective and visual artist, the series uses oil, found materials, and official documents to explore themes of loss, oversight, disempowerment, and resilience. Each piece is both personal testimony and social commentary — a record of New Orleans as it is now: raw, fractured, and hauntingly alive. Debut Exhibition The Ghost Ship Collective will make its debut at Farrington Smith Gallery (1924 St. Claude Ave., New Orleans, LA 70116) on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 6:00–9:00 p.m. The opening invites viewers to step into Hoffacker’s evolving world of abstraction and narrative, where vintage police cruisers become phantoms, directives turn into visual artifacts, and the city’s shadows demand to be seen.
